The Very First Teddy
'The Very First Teddy' is a very special bear cub made as part of the 2002 Centenary of the Teddy Bear Range to resemble the cub in the Washington Post Berryman cartoon he is holding.
He celebrates Teddy Roosevelts moment of refusing to shoot a captured bear cub, his restraint and kindness being captured in newsprint and the special moment beginning the 'Teddy' bear phenomenon that we know today.
He wears a collar and a startled expression. He has 'since 1902' printed on the left paw and the iconic RR signature on the right paw.
